We’re looking for a Community Organizer!
We’re looking for a Community Organizer to bolster the GMI ranks! As GMI is a non-profit community organization this is a volunteer position, but you will have a set budget for use in organizing events throughout the year. We’re looking for a diligent and enthusiastic person to take charge of regular event planning on behalf of GMI. This position is flexible in nature, but requires the time commitment to get things done 💪
Who you will be working with
The GMI board is made up of three people with extensive experience in the games industry. Alexandra has experience working in digital marketing, research and growth at CCP Games as well as at other tech companies. Haukur Steinn co-founded Radiant Games and has since worked in production, product, and marketing related roles at Solid Clouds and CCP Games. Alexandra and Haukur are part of the original founding team of GMI and have both held board seats at IGI. Ingólfur has worked in programming roles at CCP Games and Mainframe Industries and has experience in management, production and team coaching from other tech companies. In total, we have worked on 8 different titles professionally, aside from multiple hobby projects and game jam entries 🎮
Responsibilities
Organize! In collaboration with the GMI board, maintain a regular cadence of in-person events for the community to come together 📆
Iterate! Work with the community to come up with ways to augment the existing events with new event types where members of the community can meet and learn from each other 🎮
Budget! Through the GMI board you will have a set budget to use at your discretion, to accomplish the goals we set together 💸

About Game Makers Iceland
GMI is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to nurturing a diverse and vibrant gamedev scene in Iceland. Our mission is to create opportunities for people from all over the industry and its surrounding community to connect with each other. This includes indie devs, hobbyists, professional game developers, and investors. GMI was initially founded in 2016 as an autonomous team within IGI (Icelandic Games Industry), and then in June 2018 was formally founded as an independent organization. 2024 will therefore be our 8th year of operations 🥳
