The Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets would of be playing their first meeting of the season but unfortunately the NBA was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Epidemic. In this article, I will be evaluating postponed games and making a statistical predictions on the outcome of these games. These games will be broken down by shooting, defense and turnovers.

The Clippers last played on March 10th against the Golden State Warriors with a score of 131–107. Currently they are the second seed in the Western Conference with a record of 44–20. Trailing their cross the hall neighbor the Los Angeles Lakers with a record of 49–14.

The First postponed game on the Clippers Schedule is the Brooklyn Nets vs the Los Angeles Clippers. The Nets come in with a record of 30–34 placing them 7th in the Eastern Conference.

This would have been the first of two meetings between the two.

Nets at Clippers

Shooting

One game comparison of shooting and assist stats per team.
Christopher Martinez

Looking at field goals first, the Clippers out shot the Nets by 12.4% which can be also looked at as 24.8 points by multiplying that percentage by the amount of points per bucket scored.

The Clippers also outscored the Nets at the arch by 9% which can be looked at as 27 points from 3-point. Same as the field goal this is found by multiplying the percentage of 3’s by the 3 point each bucket is worth.

In Free Throw Percentage, the Clippers converted on more free throws then the Nets by 11.5% from the line.

In assists, the Clippers had an astonishing 29 more assists than the Nets. The ball movement in turn these can translate into easy points.

Defense

One game comparison of steals and rebounds per team.
Christopher Martinez

On the defensive side of the ball, in rebounding and steals, the Clippers out rebounded the Nets by 42.6 and stole the ball 10 more times than their opponent. Knowing that the Clippers Defense is one of the prominent in the league.

Whereas in the rebounding the Nets have Jarret Allen № 31 and DeAndre Jordan № 06 two true centers who combined are averaging 13.9 rebounds a game. While the Clippers have only one true center Ivica Zubac № 40 who is only averaging 4.6 rebounds a game.

While the Clippers win in assist numbers, the Nets may have a very good chance at out rebounding the Clippers as they have two true centers who by themselves are out rebounding Zubac’s season average of 4.6.

Turnovers

One game average of Turnovers per team.
Christopher Martinez

Turnovers play a huge part in turning a game around. Multiple turnovers can not only lead to a team going on a big run but also lowering the chemistry and self esteem of the other team. The Nets are turning the ball over 12 times less which in turns can lead to a 2 or 3 point bucket on the other side.

Result

The result of this game should have the Clippers easily winning this game by out shooting and playing solid defense on their opponent. The Nets would give them a good game in possessions by trying to force turnovers and crashing the boards more. Eventually the Clippers’ defense and depth will seal the game against a young, exciting Brooklyn Nets Team.
