Dear Gamecaster family,

It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that Gamecaster will be shutting down on March 31, 2023.

We announced last year that Gamecaster was being tied back in with XSplit, which we had hoped would give us the opportunity to continue maintaining the app and solving the technical issues that many of you have encountered. However, the sad reality is that the original development team behind Gamecaster have all since left to pursue other opportunities — Gamecaster is a fairly complex app that relies both on integrations with third party services and several advanced internal components, so without this dedicated expertise the functionality of Gamecaster has significantly deteriorated.

Further, while the support of our Pro users has enabled us to keep the lights on for Gamecaster this far, the sales are now barely covering the ongoing operational costs, and the amount of active Pro subscribers have understandably been dropping as the technical issues have been affecting more and more of you.

We will continue to support Gamecaster until March 31, after which we will be shutting down the servers. The app and any assets that you may have stored in the Gamecaster cloud will no longer be accessible from that date, and we encourage you to export any data you wish to keep.

For all active Pro subscribers, we have canceled your subscription as of the end of your current license period so you will not be charged anymore. As a token of our appreciation for your support, we are also providing all active Pro subscribers with a key for an XSplit Premium Bundle license which gives you access to both XSplit VCam and XSplit Broadcaster — please check your email for more details and the license key.

XSplit Broadcaster has empowered millions of streamers over the past 13 years and allows for almost limitless customization so we hope that it can provide a suitable replacement for many of you for your content creation needs. Likewise, we hope that XSplit VCam, our AI powered background replacement application for video calls and content creation, will be useful for you as well.

While we are saddened that the Gamecaster journey has come to an end, we would like to express our utmost gratitude to all of you for giving your support and feedback to us through the past few years. While we had hoped for a different outcome, it’s been a journey full of learnings and experiences and we are eternally grateful to our community who helped to always make things better.

We would also like to give a special thanks to our Community Helpers Raths, Eddy, Radgryd, Duman and SuperResiK, without whom we wouldn’t have made it this far. You are all amazing people and we wish you the best of luck!

Sincerely,

Andreas Hoye (aka Pokey)
