Chernoff Newman- Dessaa Legros
Dessaa Legros is a recent graduate who played Volleyball at The University of South Carolina. Legros majored in Management and Marketing and minored in Public Relations. Legros was ranked second on her team with 262 kills in her senior season and earned MVP at the Carolina Classic.
Legros was interning with Chernoff Newman for the first part of the summer. Chernoff Newman is an integrated marketing communications firm that focuses on consumer engagement with a variety of different clients. Legros worked in their Public Relations department and handled news clippings for the Palmetto series. She also dealt with possible projects for the department of USC, worked along with the Charleston office focusing on their crisis management, and worked on websites and media audits for the agency. All of the interns together presented a group project about strategic framework for a nonprofit organization to the agency.
One of the cool experiences that Legros had was attending the governor and the commissioner of agriculture’s passing of the new hemp bill.
Legros said that this internship has helped broaden her horizons and get an idea of the different avenues that marketing and public relations have. Her goal in the future is to become either a sports agent or work within a sports agency. Legros was a killer in volleyball and her career on the other side of sports will be nothing different.
