Student-Athletes Post a Combined GPA Above 3.0 for the 20th-Consecutive Semester

The University of South Carolina student-athletes completed another semester of achievement in the classroom. USC student-athletes earned a departmental GPA of 3.245 for the Fall 2016 semester. It marked the 20th-consecutive semester in which Gamecock student-athletes have combined for a GPA above 3.0.

Women’s Tennis (3.738) earned its highest GPA to date as well as earning the highest GPA among all athletic teams. Football (2.847) recorded its second-highest in-season GPA, while Women’s Track & Field (3.449) earned its second-highest GPA on record. Fifteen of the eighteen teams earned a 3.0 or better GPA.

The department named 62 student-athletes to the President’s List, 187 to the Dean’s List, and 395 to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll (3.0). A total of 31 student-athletes graduated in December.

“The hard work and focus of our student-athletes continues to shine through as they build upon academic success,” said Maria Hickman, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics and Student Development. “The Dodie academic staff works tirelessly to support our student-athletes, but the real credit goes to the young men and women who spent countless hours dedicating themselves to academic excellence.”
