Jones specializes in the middle distance events and earned three podium finishes this past outdoor season. Jones also finished 21st overall this past outdoor season at the NCAA East Regional.

Jones is currently interning with Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Jones has been able to work in the assault unit which is when the unit would ride out to a victim’s homes to chat with them and ask them if they would like to prosecute their case. Jones has also been able to work in the cold case unit which is where Jones types up unsolved homicides that happened in Columbia for the Richland County Sheriff’s Department website. The last area of focus that Jones has been able to work in is the gang unit which consists of sitting in meetings to hear what type of crimes were going on around the county.

Jones has aspirations to become an officer so he can work federally later on in his career. A focus that he is thinking of having in the future is also working in the criminal investigation side.

Jones shared how this internship is related to his career path and what he wants to do in the future and has exposed him to a lot of new experiences and new things that go on with being an officer and the different components that go into working with a sheriff’s department.

Jones is very passionate about the law and getting into law enforcement. He wants to better the country and he has a bright future to do that.
