Gameflip Jam!
Gameflip is proud to announce that it is hosting its first-ever game jam. The event is open to both experienced and novice game developers, and will give participants the opportunity to create a complete game from scratch in just 12 days.
If you’re not familiar with game jams, here’s a summary: they are competitions where game developers come together to create a game from scratch within a set amount of time — with the most famous having only 24 to 72hs! Game jams are a great opportunity for developers to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and meet other developers in the industry.
Gameflip’s Game Jam #1 is a little more forgiving with the time period, giving participants 12 days to complete their game. However, the judges will be expecting to see complete materials, even if they are not fully polished.
But if you are not a developer you can have fun as well! By going into the jam’s page you will be able to see, download and/or play all the games participating as they are submitted and it’s all for free! Leave your feedback for the developers of your favorite games and help the indie gaming community flourish.
While game jams are rewarding on their own, offering the pleasure of seeing your work done during the competition, Gameflip decided to offer an extra incentive and the top three games in the competition will each receive a prize of $100, and all participating games will be considered for a revenue-share publishing deal with Gameflip and their partnered publishers. Participants will also have access to resources and support to help refine and polish their games.
Gameflip’s Game Jam #1 is a fantastic opportunity for game developers of all levels to showcase their talent, learn new skills, and potentially win prizes. We look forward to seeing the games that emerge from this competition, wish all the developers the best of luck, and hope that this is just the first of many game jams hosted by Gameflip in the future!
