To celebrate the launch of my new book Gameful Writing, I am sharing it with you here, one section of each chapter at a time. Each of the seven chapters is a separate story, but they are interconnected. I hope you enjoy reading this little parable.

Chapter 2: Will

The week in Aalborg passed too quickly.

Miriam didn’t have time to meet him in the city during his stay, except for the one time they went together to Lily’s grave. They didn’t talk much, only really exchanging words when Miriam needed instruction to get his wheelchair to roll on the churchyard gravel. She also placed the flowers he bought for Lily in the vase beside the headstone. Although they didn’t talk much with each other, Will was utterly aware that Miriam’s presence made this visit less of a burden, especially when she patted him on the shoulder while he was trying to hide the tears and dabbed with his palms at his eyes.

The rest of his stay was busy because he had a social event with the wheelchair community in Aalborg, a visit and subsequent dinner with the local wheelchair repair service he had discovered some time ago and wanted to exchange experience with, a day at the…
