Happy, Safe, and Gameful Holidays!
December 2021 Newsletter by Gameful Life
It has been only a little over three weeks since the last newsletter in November. December is shorter for all of us due to the holidays.
In my family, and along with November, it is also full of birthdays. It is bright, noisy, and full of surprises.
Here is a short report on my writing projects.
I have written two articles on turning life into fun games. The first one was published in Gameful Life. Here it is:
The other will appear in an online magazine Ludogogy in January. Ludogogy is an online magazine on all things game-based learning, gamification, and playful design. As soon as my article appears there, I will also publish it in Gameful Life. Until then, you can access my other articles published in Ludogogy and those mentioning me and my work here.
In the past three weeks, I also published three new articles for the technical publications community. You can see them along with others in the S1000D Implementation Map.
More colors came with the new projects I will address in the coming year and have been already preparing. I will be teaching a course called “Take Control of Your Creative Business” in a bachelor program at the South Gate Creative Writing School here in Aalborg, Denmark. I enjoy the preparation time right now. And a few technical publication projects are coming too.
It’s a busy time, but I love it.
Personal time is busy too. Today, homeschooling started in Denmark again and brought different dynamics into daily life. If I complain about it, I don’t enjoy it. If I embrace it and tap into the gameful resourcefulness I know I always have at my disposal, then it goes not only easier, but I experience it as fun as well.
December is full of beautiful traditions too, which we can enjoy. The beautiful plant you see in the picture above greeted me in my winter shoe on December 6. In Germany, they have a tradition to clean the shoes on the 5th, put them out or beside an entrance into the house, and if the shoes are clean enough, and one was well-behaved in the previous year, then Nikolaus fills the shoes with sweets and little things. We keep this tradition alive in my family while enjoying our life here in Denmark. I got this sweet Christmas plant along with some chocolate, and it smiles at me, gracing my desk.
I won’t keep you long and just mention the following. If you want to hear from me above this newsletter, I invite you to subscribe to my mailing list here. You can find out where else you can follow or contact me on my contact page.
Thank you very much for your interest and support for Gameful Life and my other publications! It means a lot to me.
Have beautiful holidays and a fantastic start to the new year 2022!
With best wishes,
