Starting and Progressing Simple

May 2022 Newsletter by Gameful Life

When I share that I turn my life into fun games for many years — some parts of it for seven to eight years and the whole of it for almost five years —many want me to share my game plans with them.

When I share these game plans, they wonder about their complexity and intricacy. But it all started simple. And it progressed in a simple way—one small, gameful step at a time and one full of self-awareness.

You can see that simple start and progress on the “Gameful Life Gallery” of some of my game plans and feedback systems I share on my website.

Those who ask me about turning life into fun games also ask me how they can start doing the same and what I would recommend to them to maintain a gameful lifestyle.

My recommendation is not only to start simple but also to progress simple. And to remember that none of your self-motivational game designs are bad. They are perfect and valuable in the moment of their design and play.

You can’t find out how a game feels for you until you test it. And you won’t enjoy playing it if, while designing it, you disregarded your emotions.

Thus, be aware of your emotions. That is what the best and most successful game designers do concerning the players of their games. Then adjust your real-life games one tiniest, most effortless step at a time, and play each tiny game in the most fun, for you, ways and celebrate them in those most fun ways.

Keep playing and designing, and keep each little step simple and fun.
