Virtual Reality is a dream come true for many gamers, we are currently living in the ancient age of Virtual Reality. We are very fortunate to be alive in this era where we get to experience VR for what it is today. However, things will only get better. One of the major things we can’t do in VR is run and jump. Well luckily for us Virtuix Omni has announced a 360-degree treadmill that fits in your home and allows VR players to run, jump, and more in the virtual world.

The player simply steps onto the treadmill and puts on a vest that mounts them to an arm that is attached to the base of the platform that will rotate freely with the player. According to Engadget, the Developer kit costs $975 USD. The product's final price for consumers is still unknown. However, they have competition.

Three months ago KAT VR announced their first personal VR treadmill for VR players. It does especially the same thing for $1000. This could very well be a healthy competition to drive future prices down and make things more user friendly. Either way, this is better than the tease we’ve been getting from these companies. They’ve been developing treadmills like these for years but they cost several thousand dollars and are only ever used in VR arcades. It’s about time costs are brought down to be more affordable for consumers. However, still too expensive for even most VR players, let alone the masses.

Until then let’s hope the Oculus Quest 2 sells like hotcakes to boost the VR industry. Sadly, we likely won’t see many VR treadmills being used. So I’ll keep using my Joystick to move around.
