PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN
PSG eSports was founded in 2016 as an official department in the Paris Saint-Germain club. They’re involved in FIFA, Dota 2, League of Legends and Rocket League
MANCHESTER CITY
The English club have their own tournament, Manchester city eSports Cup. They have also expanded to Chinese eSports market becoming the first English club to be have an online eSports team in Beijing.
AS ROMA
The Italian giants entered the eSports scene in February 2017 with the creation of a FIFA team. They partnered with eSports giants Fnatic who power the clubs eSports department and provide all necessary support and training to players.
AJAX FOOTBALL CLUB
Dutch professional eSports club founded in 2016, and based in the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. They picked up top FIFA talent Koen Weijland. He was handed the number 39 jersey by former goalkeeper and current director, Edwin van der Sar, at the Amsterdam Arena.
PSV EINDHOVEN
They broke into the eSports scene with a FIFA 17 squad, decided by a tournament they hosted. PSV eSports players have full access and use of the clubs training facilities.
SPORTING LISBON
The club decided to start its eSports presence with FIFA because of their strong International presence in football. They have a League of Legends team in addition.
FC SHALKE
The Bundesliga club have an eSports team competing in the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS), the top level of professional League of Legends in Europe.
WOLFSBURG
After launching in 2016 they signed one of the best FIFA eSports players David Bytheway, from England. Wolfsburg have eSports academy that hunts for eSports talent.
WEST HAM UNITED
They’re the first UK club to be involved in eSports.They made a recent signing of Fifa eSports player Danny Taylor in April. He represented West Ham in the FIFA eClub World Cup
VALENCIA
Valencia are the first La Liga club to own an eSports team. They’re have a presence in Rocket League, FIFA, League of Legends and Hearthstone
BESIKTAS
Beşiktaş eSports Club is a Turkish team and the first professional esports club opened by a professional sport club. They compete in Counter Strike Global Offensive, League of Legends and FIFA.
SANTOS
The Brazilian League organization we’re first involved in eSports in 2015 as the title sponsor of Dexterity Team. The partnership ended after Santos launched their own eSports organization.
Their gaming teams involve League of Legends, Call of Duty, Pro Evolution Soccer and an All Women Counter Strike team.
Given the current rate at which eSports is rising, it doesn’t come as a surprise that many sports organizations are investing in competitive gaming as the eSports malarkey is projected to generate $1.6 billion in 2021. Clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, FC Barcelona are all making preparations to enter the eSports scene.
The NBA 2K League has been a massive success since its debut with Knicks Gaming winning the inaugural league championship. These NBA team have their respective 2K gaming teams.
