Getting started can be the most difficult part of the dev process but it is definitely not the only. The long haul between inception and completion has worn many a developer down with nothing but a half completed game and sadness to show for it.

One way to combat this is to have a firm grasp of the trip you are starting and this Tutorial Asset pack from Unity is a phenomenal start.

The completed game is a fun little battle arena, a couch shooter with cartoonish tanks shooting up a base and a friend.

As far as set pieces go the scene is cute, stylized and well made. The tanks look like stylized army men tanks, think Sarges Heros era.

Since it is a full game, however small, it has a huge amount of assets for you to jump into and dig around in.

To help you navigate this heaping pile of assets the team over at Unity have put together a full tutorial to go with it, check it out here: https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/s/tanks-tutorial

The main thrust of this asset pack is on the learning, how to use the tools you have to assemble a pile of assets into a focused finished game. I love the design of it and the philosophy behind it, taking a simple idea from inception to completion and showing us how it works every step of the way.
