Daniel Johnsson is Creating Fantastical Yet Grounded Monstrosities in Games

Daniel creates a stunning array of character art, of particular note are his outstandingly gory and visceral depictions of the undead and the actual dead.

He does his work over at Machine Games, the studio behind Wolfenstein: New Order. You can find his work all over that game and if you are like me you spend most of your time playing games, zoomed in on random assets trying to figure out how they were made. Someone has definitely stared at his work inside of New Order for an unreasonable amount of time.

His work is captures what I can only imagine is exactly what the concept artists had in mind, monstrosities or regular people alike he has a firm grasp of anatomy and scope that allows him to break the rules in ways that create fantastical creatures that our minds can accept as real.
