A digital sculptor beyond compare, Frank Tzeng has an incredible portfolio of really great examples of his attention to detail. You can count pores on most of his models and considering the level of care taken for things like wounds, hair and general skin imperfections. Character art is widely regarded as one of the hardest fields to get a beachhead into, a mixture of market saturation (everyone wants to make their characters come to life) and the very steep curve to the skillset. So to be so acclaimed and trendsetting in the industry is very noteworthy. He has also made a point of sharing these skills to some extant on his gumroad, giving a tool to up and coming artists to try to excel.

The Last of Us Part 2 — Dina

Frank Tzeng has been on his artistic journey for over ten years now, eight of those have been spent working as a character artist at Naughty Dog where he has helped shape the look and feel of some of the most iconic characters in games. He started his time there as a Character Artist before moving right up into a lead position where he has worked on Uncharted3: A Thief’s End and The Last of Us: Part 2.

Some of the best character art I have seen has come out of Naughty Dog, really genre defining work and it is pretty cool to know that Frank Tzeng is one of the major movers and shakers for that art. Check the links below to see where you can follow him, hit them and dig right in!
