One of the hardest things to get right when it comes to particular stylized looks, hardest to maintain cohesion with really, is the terrain.

Creating interesting terrain with a cohesive look that does NOT give you tiling artifacts from any distance beyond a few meters can be difficult. Though that difficulty really scales depending on what sort of style you are looking for.

This pack here would be my own go to if I were making a game

The folder hierarchy is brief and if it wasnt with the whole three sprite sheets it has in it there would definitely be some problems with that. Easy to parse, simple to navigate with just a few assets. Hard to mess that one up.

Though there are only three sprite sheets, they are lovely and easy to use. They are arrayed in the example scene in a way that lets you manipulate them and build your own setup.

The sheets are already precut, so you can just start going to town with them. The import settings are below though I will admit they do not mean much to me, I have never built anything using assets like this but with this pack in hand I should probably give it a try.

This is a relatively brief article, this is not a particularly dense pack. What you see is what you get and what you make from there is totally up to you.

I would say that for $6 it is definitely worth the value, you can create a huge amount of different terrain, creating a vast if not quite endless maps or levels as you need for your game.

Some Pros to force your hand

  • Cheap and easy to put together
  • While not the most expensive of packs, you can build a massive amount of different terrain with just these three sheets.

Some cons to take away.

  • Only three main terrain types to choose from, don’t go trying to make anything like deserts or frosty areas.
