His explorations of soft, Ghibli style materials are delightful while his more realistic prop work is AAA quality through and through.

Jimmy creates some beautiful 3D art, his work in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey showcases some outstanding hyper-real art with great attention to detail. The art that stands out the most, for me, is his soft painterly Substance Designer creations. These are really breaking the mold in what is expected from the program. He has been creating awesome tutorials too, opening up the field for others to help push Substance Designer into new and beautiful directions.

He has spent the last 12 years in the game development industry. Working first at Gameloft before moving on to spend several years at Ubisoft with games like Assassins Creed Odyssey, Valhalla and the new Immortals Fenyx Rising under his belt.

He went to school at Creajeux, a private game development focused school in France. Jimmy Malachier has come so far in his career and his art stands as the proof of that journey, one that is not even close to ending. Looking forward to seeing where he goes next and how far he can push his material art in the future.
