A solid prop pack is hard to beat, sometimes they can be pretty niche but if they happen to be the square peg for the square hole you need it for, it’s perfect.

Sci-Fi props are one of the more popular on the marketplace, good thing because it would be hard to have a unique looking scene or game if they were thin on the ground. This pack has a ton of really cool looking sci fi crates in different colors, degree of wear and with the controls to adjust the emissive maps to get as much or as little high tech glow as you need.

At 5.99 it’s definitely not breaking the bank, whether that is worth it just for a bunch of boxes depends entirely on your budget BUT I would say that the quality sets their value easily high enough to warrant the cost.

The folder hierarchy is easy to parse, for the amount of assets you get out of this the pack itself is really light. A few meshes and then a lot of good materials to get a nice spread of unique looking boxes and crates.

The boxes themselves are pretty neat and interesting. Ten different meshes with 5 different color styles each. Some of them have light edgewear and interesting blemishes but there is not much in the way of control for that.

The materials are probably one of the low points of the pack, though that is not a totally negative thing. They are just not as powerful as I would like, after messing around with our own SHADE pack over at GT I start to look at these a bit more critically. That said, they work perfectly fine for what you need them for. The emissive control is nice, its power adjustment works well as do the roughness etc. All in all, nothing to write home about but perfectly solid in the material department.

The meshes are well designed, not breaking the budget on poly count and they look good. They do NOT have premade LOD but I cannot think of a time I have seen that on a marketplace asset pack so it’s not even a bad mark in this case, just something to be aware of.

All in all a pack that is definitely worth grabbing if you are looking at having various and or expansive science fiction scenes in your project. They give you a lot of variation and a decent amount of potential assets.

Some Pros to force your hand

  • What control there IS on the materials is useful.
  • The meshes are simply designed and easy to use.
  • Interesting design and emissive control is a huge plus.

Some cons to take away.

  • Not a ton of control on the materials.
