Skyboxes and HDRI can be hard to set up and use.

Well, let me caveat that.

They can be hard to set up and use correctly, this kit takes that out of the equation by both showing you how they set up quality assets and providing some very nice assets that you could just use outright.

The skyboxes themselves look great and have a lot of options available.

The kit comes with a lot of content, that is always a plus. The demo scenes are mainly just to show off the skyboxes but they are definitely fun to jump into and look around in.

The HDRI’s are well set up, ready to use and are beautiful to look at. They have plenty of options to manipulate them and are an education in and of themselves to see how they are set up in case you wanted to work on your own.

The same holds true for the skyboxes themselves, though there are some of them that include grounds which may cause some problems unless oriented properly. That said, they are an education to look over and some of them are legitimately beautiful in their own right.

This one is probably my favorite, a beautiful univer shot that is unique enough to really set a scene while still being neutral and generic enough that you could use this in various ways without running into a common problem with these free kits; Sameness across various games and projects.

All in all, this one is a totally great inclusion to any project. This is another kit that could see itself being used at the end state of a project instead of just being a stand-in though it works perfectly fine as filler art if you have that need.

Some Pros to force your hand

  • Can fill the role of filler or Final art easily.
  • A good way to get a free look at how various HDRI and Skyboxes are set up in Unity.
  • A lot of content for a grand total of $free.

Some cons to take away.

  • Some of the skyboxes have grounds, this will complicate their placement.
