Changes Coming to GameWisp Cash-Outs

One area where we’ve always wanted to improve has been our cash-out system.

The early days of GameWisp taught us a lot about how important proactive protections against things like chargebacks and fraud can be, but the result hasn’t always been the most flexible or efficient system.

Today, we’re happy to announce a series of changes coming to our cash-out system, launching within the next week or so, that should go a long ways towards making the process of transferring your GameWisp earnings as easy and pleasant as possible.

That being said, I don’t want to bury the lead, so the bad news first.

When the new system launches in the coming days, there will now be a fee of 25 cents charged for every cash-out. This fee does not go to us, but goes towards the fees associated with processing the transfer. While we’ve never said so, we’ve been paying these fees on our end since GameWisp’s beginning. When we were a small company, this was a burden we could easily take on, but as we’ve grown, built more stuff, and had more creators jump on and start making money, the burden has grown, and with the release of the new features listed below, it has gotten to the point that the way things have been just is no longer sustainable.

We’ve done everything we can to make sure this fee is as small as possible, and that it’s the same for everybody, no matter the size of the cash out, the country you’re in, or any other factor. We hope the quality of the cash-out system we’re putting in place and our continued commitment to building you as much cool stuff as possible will make up for any frustration this change might cause.

And now, on to the fun stuff!

First, the things you love about GameWisp’s cash-outs are staying the same:

• You can cash-out whenever you want, as often as you want, as long as you have $25 in your account
• A real, live person reviews all the transactions in your cash-out (with the help of advanced fraud prevention machine-learning-based artificial intelligence) in order to reduce the likelihood of chargebacks
• GameWisp’s experts fight chargebacks on your behalf with PayPal and the credit card companies. We have a great track record of winning in favor of the streamer.
• Any fees associated with successful chargebacks will still be paid by GameWisp, and never by the creator.

The New Hotness

Wait times are plummeting!
Cash-outs will now take 3–5 days to process. In the past, we’ve done our best to process all cash-outs within a business week. With the size of our staff, though, we didn’t always hit that mark, and as the new system has been in the final stages, that wait time has increased. We’re happy to say that those days should be behind us! Cash-outs should now take approximately three days to process.

Receive GameWisp earnings via direct deposit, if you live in the US!
This feature, provided through Dwolla, will be found on your Earnings page under “Payout Settings,” and allows deposits directly from GameWisp into a US bank account. If PayPal isn’t your thing, or you just want to cut out the middle-man (and the associated additional wait time), things just got a whole lot simpler.

W8 and W9 tax forms are now available right on the GameWisp site!
In the past, when we needed tax forms from users, these forms were sent via email, and too often they wound up lost in spam folders. No longer! Now you’ll be able to find these forms with everything else on your Earnings page, and every user must fill them out prior to cashing out, making the process simpler.

Note: If you’ve previously filled out a form via Docusign, you must do so again through the new system (which will prompt you). Make sure to do so before your next cash out.

GameWisp has always been about empowering creators, giving them a platform to earn reliable, sustainable income to support their craft.

Income isn’t very reliable if you have to wait too long to get it, so we’re really excited that we’re finally able to beef up our system and take the pain out of cashing out.
