Bethesda “Might” Make Nintendo NX Games
For years Nintendo has been competing with Xbox and PS, along with other consoles, without the support of any third party game developer. The entire gaming community feels that this has had a major impact on Nintendo’s popularity worldwide. But this might change with their upcoming console the Nintendo NX, as studios such as Bethesda is considering developing games for the new console.
Although the Nintendo NX is expected to come out only next year, people have become anxious about what will be different this time around. If Bethesda does decide to go ahead with it and venture with Nintendo NX games, it might be great news for Nintendo fans. Bethesda hasn’t confirmed or made any public announcements that would confirm their involvement with Nintendo, however, they seem optimistic about working with Nintendo. Their marketing executive Pete Hines told Finder.com.au (via Nintendo Everything), “We talk to Nintendo all the time — we’re pretty well briefed in on what they are doing.” He added “It’s definitely something we will look at, and our philosophy is that we will put our games out on any format that supports the games as we envisage and make them…. If the NX fits that from a technical standpoint and fits the game that a developer in our stable is making, I don’t see why we would not put it out on NX…. But it’s too early to say, ‘We’ll definitely be putting games out or not.’ Like with mobile, we want to have the right fit for the right formats.”
It is difficult to anticipate what will happen if game studios such as Bethesda decide to start developing Nintendo NX games. It could result in them developing new games for Nintendo or introducing Xbox and PS4 games on Nintendo or both. I would certainly want Bethesda to go ahead with it, and start making new games for Nintendo, and since they have already been briefed about the upcoming console, they can release a game with the launch of the console.
But that’s not all that we can expect from Nintendo’s new console. Even if it doesn’t work out with Bethesda, Nintendo has lined up games for Nintendo NX, which includes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario, and Pokemon among others. These games are expected to be available anytime from the launch to 6 months from it.
