Growing up as a kid I remember, Sega was one of the more established video game developers. At that time there weren’t such high-def games, and neither were the games so detailed. Most of the games were side scrolling. Somewhere during the shift, Sega lost some of its popularity.

Recently, they were facing some financial problem. They have been recovering from the loss of popularity for a time now. However, recently they have announced that times have been changing for them and things are looking better. Their sales are now seeing a growth.

They have made a 9% growth as compared to the same period last year. According to them Phantasy Star Online 2 and mobile applications like Puyopuyo Quest, Chain Chronicle — Kizuna no Shintairiku and Hortensia Saga are the major contributors to their recent success.

At the San Diego Comic-Con this year, Sega had announced the upcoming 2 Sonic games. It is notably their most iconic game and character. The upcoming games are being launched to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the character. One game was described as a remastered version of the old game, which the new one is expected to include a modern version of Sonic’s adventures against Eggman. The games will only come out later next year on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. There is a possibility that the game might feature on Nintendo Switch too.
