Luigi and the Ghostly Mansion: A Hero’s Spooky Journey
Luigi’s Haunting Adventure to Find Mario
Luigi Meets The Professor!
The story begins with Luigi walking alone at night through a spooky, dense forest. Nervously clutching a map that shows a mysterious mansion, he emerges from the trees and spots the mansion in the distance. A flash of lightning illuminates its ominous shape, and Luigi shivers, hesitating as he takes in the eerie sight. Gathering his courage, he approaches the front gate, opens it, and cautiously steps forward. Ravens caw as he ascends the stairs. Trembling, Luigi opens the creaky front door, whispering, “Hello?” before flicking on his flashlight.
Inside the foyer, Luigi tiptoes around, eyes wide as he notices a glowing door across the room. He moves up the staircase, calling for “Mario.” At the top, he tries the central door, only to find it locked. When he lets go of the handle, he hears strange, squeaky giggles from the other side. Startled, he rushes back downstairs. At the base of the stairs, he sees a glowing orange key floating toward the door he’d seen earlier. Lightning flashes as the key falls, while the orange glow drifts upstairs and slips through the locked door. Shaking but determined, Luigi picks up the key and heads back up. The key fits, and he steps into the Parlor Room.
His resolve wavering, Luigi inches forward until an orange ghost appears, startling him backward. As he scrambles to escape, a strange old man in a lab coat appears, wielding a vacuum-like device and attempting to suck in the ghost. The ghost laughs and vanishes, leaving the old man disappointed. Luigi hurries over, and the old man introduces himself as Professor E. Gadd, a ghost-catcher. Before he can explain more, several orange ghosts appear. Luigi and the Professor retreat to E. Gadd’s ghost research lab.
In the lab, Luigi explains he came because he “won” the mansion in a contest he never entered. The Professor reveals he’s lived in the lab for years and that the mansion only appeared recently. He recalls seeing a man in a red hat enter the mansion but never return. Realizing this must be Mario, Luigi shares his brother’s disappearance. The Professor agrees to help Luigi, offering him the Poltergust 3000 and Game Boy Horror, and gives Luigi a crash course in ghost-catching.
Luigi Meet’s The Boo’s!
Returning to the mansion, Luigi finds Toad weeping in the corner of the foyer. Toad explains that Princess Peach sent him to look for Mario, who came to see Luigi after learning about the mansion. Frightened of ghosts, Toad begs Luigi to find Mario for him, which Luigi agrees to, bringing some relief to Toad.
Exploring further, Luigi stumbles into a Storage Room and accidentally triggers a hidden switch, causing a wall to shift. Cautiously, he steps into a new hallway and finds a poster marked “DANGER” near a floor grate. Curious, he pulls back the poster and finds a red button. He presses it, and suddenly, the grate opens, releasing fifty Boos and their leader, King Boo. The Boos spot Luigi and begin to surround him — until they see the Poltergust 3000, which sends them fleeing. King Boo hesitates but eventually follows, taunting Luigi as he escapes.
Luigi Meet’s Madam Clairvoya!
The Professor calls Luigi on the Game Boy Horror, sensing a high ghost concentration. After hearing about King Boo, he concludes that the Boos are likely behind Mario’s disappearance. Determined, Luigi continues searching the mansion.
After handling various ghosts, Luigi enters the Fortune-Teller’s Room, where he meets Madam Clairvoya. She offers to help Luigi locate Mario but can only do so if he finds some of Mario’s personal items.
Luigi heads off again, in this new quest to find Mario’s items. He finds Mario’s Hat in the Laundry Room, Mario’s Letter to Luigi from a Toad hiding outside in the courtyard, Mario’s Star in a hidden path in the Observatory, Mario’s Glove in the Projector Room and Mario’s Shoe in a chest after playing with the twin ghosts, Henry and Orville in the Twin’s Room. With Mario’s missing item’s all found, Luigi heads back to Madam Clairvoya.
Handing over the items to Madam Clairvoya, she calls upon the spirits to show her where Mario is hidden. The spirits tell her that King Boo has Mario trapped within the Mansion. Madam Clairvoya feels she has done enough to allow her rest, she asks Luigi to use the Poltergust 3000 but not before handing over the key to the Safari Room on the third floor. Armed with this new knowledge he sets off.
The Battle on the Balcony
Armed with the key, Luigi makes his way to the third floor and unlocks the Safari Room. From there, he finds his way to the balcony, where a swarm of Boos awaits. Unable to face Luigi alone, they merge to form Boolossus, a gigantic ghost. After a tough battle, Luigi manages to separate and capture the Boos one by one, collecting a blue key in the process. The battle, however, has caused the mansion’s power to go out, plunging it into darkness and making the ghosts more aggressive.
Luigi Meets The Darkness!
Using the blue key, Luigi unlocks the door to the other side of the third floor. In the Telephone Room, a phone rings, and Luigi picks up. Professor E. Gadd warns him that Uncle Grimly, a ghost who fears light, is roaming and must be captured before the power can be restored. Luigi tracks Grimly to the Wardrobe Room and successfully captures him, receiving a key to the Breaker Room.
Navigating through a horde of ghosts, Luigi finally reaches the Breaker Room, restoring power and sending the ghosts back into hiding.
Back in the basement, Luigi encounters a unique door guarded by King Boo, who taunts him before teleporting him back to the Foyer. Determined, Luigi searches for a way to enter, eventually finding a gold key in the Artist’s Studio from the ghost Vincent Van Gore. This key unlocks the door to the Secret Altar, leading to Mario’s location.
Luigi Meets Bowser?!
Luigi unlocks the door to the Secret Altar, where he finds King Boo gloating over Mario’s portrait. Turning toward Luigi, King Boo transforms the painting into Bowser.
Transported to the rooftop, Luigi finds himself face-to-face with Bowser, who attacks by throwing spiked balls. Luigi uses the Poltergust 3000 to fire the balls back, eventually knocking Bowser’s head loose and revealing King Boo inside a mechanical suit. In an intense showdown, Luigi ultimately captures King Boo, then returns to the Secret Altar to rescue Mario.
Luigi Meets Mario!
At the lab, Professor E. Gadd praises Luigi’s bravery. Using his ghost-pressing machine, he returns the captured ghosts to portrait form and reverses the process to free Mario from his painting. As Mario is ejected from the machine, he crashes through a frame, landing in a heap on the floor. Luigi looks down at his dazed brother and lets out a warm laugh, relieved that the adventure has finally come to an end.
The End.
