Our Goal with Our LPs
LPs (limited partners) are the investors in a fund. It’s their capital that we (the managing partners) are charged with investing into the best startups.
Every fund has a different approach to finding and involving their LPs. Our approach is simple if a little different than many of our peers. We screen our potential investors upfront to insure that they’re the type of people that we will be excited to introduce to our community. We also try to look for investors who are already involved in some way in our community.
Once an LP has invested in the fund, we work hard to make sure that they’re involved on a regular basis. We actually track internal metrics around quarterly engagement by our LPs. We hope that our LPs not only are involved but that they love being involved.
We involve our LPs in three key ways–
- We ask LPs to join a monthly deal flow review call where we share deals in our pipeline with them in order to get their feedback input and advice on how to proceed. These LPs are not on our investment committee but we strongly value and look to their advice as we make investment decisions.
- We invite our LPs to come alongside of us to join us in advising and helping our portfolio companies with introductions and key needs.
- We ask our LPs to join us at events and meetings where they will have a chance to interact with not only our portfolio companies, but many other members of the GAN community.
