Teachers pick up their pens every single day, aiming to change our lives forever.

They have been a loyal constant in our lives. From the hustling and bustling hallways in our schools to the comforts of our computer screens. It is without a doubt that they have become a positive influence more than we will ever know. The languages we use to express ourselves, the traces of information in our notebooks, our acquired skills and abilities, and the motivation we get all have one thing in common. Of course, we play a big part in our self-development, but teachers set their eyes on being of help to learners to become the best versions of themselves. They contribute to continuing growth as educated individuals. With the world constantly changing around us and the challenges that continue to knock on our doors unexpectedly, they too have their own shared constant. It is to deliver the best education that will have learners leave the classrooms with a smile on their faces and go on with their lives carrying them.

Teachers are goal-setters. Before they step into the classroom, every single teacher in the world has everything planned out. Topics they will teach, the lesson outline, the presentation, the smiles on their faces, and the shock factor of the pa-surprise quiz. Having their own lives and responsibilities, how do they do this? With their dedicated and unwavering nature and drive to provide for students, the way they work is non-stop– their brains committing to be fully functional while seated in front of their accompanied choice of illuminating gadget. They spend their days glued to their screens and paperwork in hopes of providing quality education for their students. These figures want the best for us, so they fill the blank canvas with goals and objectives before they start every class. The familiar “Our Objectives” slide in their PowerPoint holds so much more depth than what meets the eye. All of that captures how they encourage us to learn and grow. Not only as students but as people. They are encouraging and uplifting their passion for contributing to us reaching our full potential. No matter what kind of student you are, they believe that you can make it through and achieve academic goals that soon become a factor in your overall growth.

Teachers are superheroes. From the warmhearted, motherly English teachers to the practical, knowledgeable Math teachers, all of them are our saving graces. With approximately 8.5 million teachers, the people they help teach are ten times more than their population. A great example of heroes without capes. They are all in one– they inspire, care deeply, are patient, and match the students’ pace. They allow learners to open their minds, and they change the world one student at a time. As we continue to grow as people, we have our teachers to remember and thank. Human beings like them all have the same simple joys to share– the collective curious look on our faces when paying attention in class, the questions they ask to understand, the satisfaction in their smiles when they ace the exam we worked hard for, the class participation. Teaching brings abundance and satisfaction to them as it can have them witness our growth, get the opportunity to encourage us to learn for a lifetime, and construct activities that can make learning more enjoyable for us. And with their joys come future successes that are waiting for us.

Teachers are there for learners, in every way. They never hesitate to give students a helping hand. If a student needs extra assistance in specific topics? They’re there to help. If a student is looking for someone to listen to their struggles? They’re there to listen. If a student craves a role model? They’re there to inspire. Their passion for caring about students is something so rare nowadays, so let us all be thankful and glad that we have this group of people present in our daily lives.

In the month where we celebrate the millions of teachers, educators, tutors, and mentors everywhere all around the world, let us smile and remember how they shaped the world alongside us.
