The Korean e-Sports Association is hosting a family orientated e-Sports Festival in Seoul soon. The purpose of the festival is to help families bond over games and to teach parents about the games their kids love to play. The festival is being held on the 5th and 6th of May at the Pyeonghwa (Peace) Park located near World Cup Stadium Station in Seoul.

There are many e-Sports games on display at the park, ranging from the mobile e-Sports entries, such as Clash Royale and Kakao games, to PC e-Sports games, such as League of Legends and Kart Rider. Coupons and vouchers will be handed out in the park to get in-game currency and items, and other stands will be handing out game merchandise and memorabilia to help promote their games and brand.

Kids will finally be able to beat their mothers in-game.

In order to help families connect throught their games, training sessions also are being set up to help parents learn how to play League of Legends as well as the other games being hosted at the festival. Parents vs Kids tournaments are being held, as well as other challenges to help kids and their parents bond over games. Families that win the tournaments can also win prizes to appreciate the games together. (Or lose games due to how frustrating it would be when your mom doesn’t heal you fast enough.)

Other games at the festival are also hosting a female-only tournament to help encourage female participants in e-Sports. The winner of the female tournaments will be given the title “Queen” and be rewarded with many prizes. Also, the festival is holding a generational age tournament, where players in their teens will face off against players in their 20s, with players in their 30s and 40s also being in seperate teams. This will help middle aged players take out their frustrations on teenagers in-game, and viewers can watch to see if the kids really do promote toxic behaviour.

Clash Royale tournaments will also be organised.

Of course, no Korean festival would be complete without K-Pop girls, so expect to see the famous girl group, ‘April’ at the event. Perhaps that will encourage dads to join too.
