Until the technologies of virtual presence and holograms have reached their heights, people will still visit various conferences and seminars to listen to real speakers or watch a live boxing match.

During such events there is always a need to demonstrate some additional information. At conferences, people usually show different slides. And as you know, projectors are usually used for this purpose. These devices are the leaders among others means of showing information at various events. Slightly behind are large screens that are used at the stadiums or in large huge halls.

The main problem with screens at great events is that they are usually placed far away from the audience. From a distance of 15 meters it will be hard for visitors to see small text and graphics, and from 30 meters — the picture will be blurred.

distance does matter

Therefore, we came up with a revolutionary idea: in the modern world practically everyone has a mobile device with a good display, so can it somehow help you to successfully show the required content to the audience? Certainly, and for this purpose the SecondStream project was created.

About SecondStream project

“SecondStream” is a software for Windows, which allows you to display any content you need on the mobile devices of the people, who sit in one hall .

It works in real time and what’s more important — you do NOT need to install a mobile application on guests smartphones — the content can be displayed in any web browser on any device. They DON’T even need to use the Internet. Only a local Wi-Fi network is required.

distance doesn’t matter

What SecondStream offers:

  • Watching slides and videos on any device — a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop. You can always give more detailed information. The picture is shown in real-time mode and correlates with the speaker’s talk;
  • Simple connection of the viewer: the viewer scans a QR code, for example from a ticket, and gets access;
  • Feedbacks and closer interaction with the viewer: the viewer can send a text question to the speaker, and he will be able to answer during or even after the presentation. The browser has a function of sending messages, the moderator sees all the received messages;
  • The ability to transmit audio, for example, to organize a language translation;
  • Low cost of the solution (compared to projectors) and increased deployment speed.

How it works

SecondStream can receive a signal over the NDI protocol from any application: for example, from vMix or TriCaster. Next, it converts the incoming NDI signal to a format suitable for displaying in a browser. In this case, a bit rate within 0.5 Mbs — 2 Mbs (is set by the user) is used.

People connect to the local Wi-Fi via their devices. This is usually done via a public hotspot. The viewer scans a QR code (for example, from a ticket or a stand) that opens a link in the browser. Next, in the browser, player connects to SecondStream and plays the content.

Use cases

SecondStream is created for companies that provide audio-video support for various events: conferences, sporting events etc. With SecondStream, you can offer your customers a new level of interaction with the audience.
