We’re getting our full solar eclipse tomorrow, April 8, 2024. There will not be another one over this part of the world for 20 years. You no doubt know all of this as it has been headline news in the days leading up to it.

I have been thinking of how Tarot and Numerology might be studied for the event. There are so many juicy ideas I have happened upon.

We have some obvious and not so obvious Tarot cards involved in our opportunities to study our beliefs. The first two cards I immediately consider important are The Sun XIX, and The Moon XVIII, obviously. The Sun, or the great power of The Sun is covered by the great mystery of The Moon. We can think about how much we love and depend on the sun and live in daylight first, and how much we mainly see the full moon as something stunning, romantic, mysterious or scary at night. When the Moon takes over daylight time it can shake up what we count on.

Think about the power sources in your life you rely on and what happens when they are essentially taken off-line. Also, consider what may happen during a blackout of energy in your life. The Moon definitely is different. It reveals the stars. It makes coyotes and wolves howl. It has a different pattern of predictable cycles. There seems to be more quiet, but we are drawn to the Moon.

We’ve been taught to believe the Sun is active and masculine, while the Moon is receptive and feminine. With a Solar Eclipse, I would argue it makes no sense. And, so perhaps, the biggest opportunity in this study is to change our view of gender identity and the sun and the moon. Maybe we can begin to conceive of purely feminine energy can be solar, can be active, can be powerful. Meanwhile, the masculine energy can be reflective and mysterious. It is entirely possible to change our perspectives about some basic beliefs over the course of about 2 hours in the shade of the moon. We might consider stepping back from the commercialism of this event to stare at the movement of the satellite in front of our star, and instead look at what might change in our lives from study and reflection tomorrow.

I will try to add more later.

My dream shifts with every adventure, and still resembles a kind of cycle. Writing in the spring, garden in the summer, drawing in autumn and art in winter.
