There was that day when I became a Painted Lady Butterfly, just so I could understand life from her side. I learned that perspective from Jonie Mitchell clear back in 1967, long before watching the clouds of life, while listening to Clouds two years later. Today, I sat down and looked at both sides, from being a Painted Lady to being a lady watching one. I needed that perspective.

Fall temperatures here are in the air too early. The likelihood that she or another Painted Lady will float effortlessly fly by again, grows dimmer than a politician telling the truth this season. Actually, this is only the 3rd one I’ve seen since spring. I’ve written about spending the day as a Painted Lady before. It was enlightening in case you missed it.
