Saving A Giant Frog on the Verge of Extinction

A few years ago, I was writing about Titicaca Water Frogs for an exotic pets magazine, and I’ve never felt so emotional about frogs in my life. These poor creatures are on the verge of extinction, and they’re huge! Half a metre in length!
I interviewed Arturo, who was working diligently towards their conservation in Bolivia. He was emotional about it, too. His dedication to his cause was causing rifts with his family because it was swallowing up all his time. But he was so passionate about saving the species that he was completely immersed in his work.

The Titicaca Water Frog is an extraordinary amphibian, which exists only in Lake Titicaca and the rivers that flow into it, in Peru and Bolivia, South America. It’s on the verge of extinction because of habitat destruction, disease, and human consumption. Conservationists are working to reverse this trend.
