When we created Gathering we had a grandiose vision: we wanted to build one financial tool to rule them all. The world of personal finance is vast and complicated, and we set off on a mission to simplify everything from daily spending to debt and retirement. It quickly started to feel like we were trying to save the whole world. What we needed was to scale back, focus on one thing and to do it really, really well.
We talked to users, sent out surveys, and collected a ton of feedback. What we learned was that, almost unequivocally, people want to save more money regardless of age, gender, and even income. Even with existing products out there, people continue to either find it hard to save or to save more than they already do. That’s where we decided to (re-)start this journey.

In this world that is designed to consume your money, we will help you save it. We’re going to make it easy to set up a saving plan, identify savings goals that matter to you, and we’ll even automate all the boring stuff. Best of all, we’re going to help you save money the right way: paying yourself first. We’ll dig into the details of our solution in an upcoming post.
