Gathi Analytics Builds Custom Web Application, Donated to United Way Hyderabad (UWH)

Founded in 2010, United Way of Hyderabad (UWH) is a non-profit volunteer led organization, that supports and mainstreams the socio-economically underprivileged communities of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, India.

In addition to donations made through their website, the organization receives hundreds of offline donations every month. In fact, offline donations account for approximately 75% of overall donations. For each of these offline donations, manual action is required to record these transactions and provide the proper documentation back to the donor.

That’s where Gathi’s custom web application comes in.

User Interface to Record Donations, Provide Donor Receipts

For offline donations, UWH must manually create an 80G Tax Exemption Receipt (PDF file) and forward to donor using email. To avoid longer times and errors while sending, the Gathi team donated their development time to build a web application to handle this process. The application will read and insert donations into a database. Upon upload, an 80G receipt (PDF) will be auto generated and forwarded to the donor’s email address on file. If there are any errors in the data, the record can be edited and 80G will be regenerated.

Appointments

During Covid-19 pandemic, UWH office must be open for limited hours with limited people at a time. So, for proper planning of appointments, this feature has been added into the application, where an employee can book appointments. The total number of appointments is limited to 10 per day. This capacity is monitored by the application and the user is notified when that limit is met for a particular day.

Tracking Distribution of Essential Supplies

UWH works with underserved communities — supplying critical supplies: Nutrition Hygiene Kits, Meals, Medical Equipment, Sanitation Material, PPE Kits etc. These are referred to as “Expenditures”. In the application, the distribution of these materials is tracked upon distribution.
