It looks like one of the most pressing issues of our time just got a huge boost from the innovators in Silicon Valley. Partners at Menlo Park’s Silverlead Venture Fund announced this morning that they would pledge tens of millions of dollars of their own wealth over the next few years towards making billions of dollars.

“Tens of millions of dollars might seem like a lot of money, but it’s a small price to pay when you think of the impact,” said Silverlead partner Gary Helmholtz, who claims he first brought up the idea of making billions of dollars with several other partners earlier this month.

“It’s nice to have millions of dollars, but we thought the money would have a much bigger impact if it was out there in the world, making billions of dollars.”

“You can’t put a price tag on making billions of dollars,” agreed Silverlead head Jerry Silverlead, who has pledged a substantial portion of his own wealth over the last decade towards making billions of dollars.

“I would give many, many tens of millions of dollars to have a billion dollars.”
