Planning your Australian adventure

Australia is a massive continent, so it is not the kind of place that you can cover on a short trip, or on a quick visit.
You need to be strategic and you need to think about which parts of Australia do you want to experience and then structure your trip accordingly.
If you are lucky enough to have a year off, then you could buy a car and drive around the entire country — but few people are in a position to do that, so in this article we give you a few hints and tips on some of the different ways that you can structure your expedition to Australia to ensure that you get the most out of it.
The East Coast
A lot of international flights will arrive into Sydney. This is a beautiful city with a spectacular harbour and a laid back lifestyle that is incredibly enticing.
You could easily hang out in Sydney are at least a couple of days or a week, exploring the different neighbourhoods, checking out the different beaches and soaking up the atmosphere.
From Sydney you could head south to the beaches around Merimbula or up the coast to the Northern Beaches around Byron Bay — a great slice of Australian beach living.
The Tropical North
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the natural wonders of the world.
You can fly into Cairns and then drive further north to Port Douglas in order to access the snorkelling and scuba diving of the rear, or the Daintree Rainforest region.
Another option is to base yourself in the Whitsunday Islands for some sailing and tropical island luxury.
The Outback
If you are wanting a bit of a road trip then start your journey from Adelaide (surrounded by some great wine growing regions), and then drive North to Coober Pedy. This is an extraordinary place that exists for the opal mining that can be found there. Local residents live underground in dug-outs in order to escape the heat.
Keep driving North and you will hit Alice Springs and the iconic rock that is Uluru. You can fly out of Alice Springs or you can keep driving until you hit Darwin.
It is this kind of outback adventure that really gives you a sense of how vast the continent of Australia really is.
The forgotten island
Tasmania is a part of Australia that is often missed by many visitors, but it is a stunning part of the world that is well worth investigating. Wilderness, forest, and raw nature at its very best — this is the perfect place if you fancy a bit of hiking to get in touch with Australia’s unique flora and fauna first hand.
The secret to getting the most out of your visit to Australia is not to try and do too much — chunk it down, focus on a specific area or experience and dive in so that you can ensure that you have a memorable holiday and experiences that you will treasure for a lifetime.
