Roughly four million animals are killed in shelters every year. Although roughly 95% of all shelter animals are healthy and treatable. Some people think that animal should not ever be in these horrible statistics. Animal kill shelters are inhumane, and overall completely unnecessary.

In fact, there are many people who complain to shelters where euthanize animals every day for spaces. As a result, there has been “NO KILL” movement in many countries and the number of No Kill communities is on the rise (NO Kill advocacy center, 2019). The thing people try to make is that is called “no-kill animal shelters” for keeping animals until they will be adopted. They also believe that No Kill shelters improve adoption rates, all animals lives are valuable, and No Kill shelters save more money than other shelters (Maloney, 2019).

It sounds like it is such an ideal place for animals, however, when it comes to the reason for increasing no-kill animal shelters, there should be places where unadaptable animals go. NO kill animal shelters should not exist for animal rights. Because of their environment of those shelters.

In fact, NO kill shelters are not always run as an ideal place many people believe because of business situations. Since “ No Kill shelter” keeps all the animal that is adaptable, it is difficult to take care all of the animals that they are holding about whether they spay or neuter their animals, blood test, health problems and mental problems in shelters. And that may kill their animals even slowly and affect people as well.

“It was clear from the start that something was seriously wrong with Barnaby. He sneezed, his eyes were runny, and his ears oozed a gooey brown substance… A blood test revealed a severe Bartonella infection, more commonly known as catscratch fever because that’s how it can be spread to humans” (aeon, 2013)

When people think about ” NO-kill animal shelter” and traditional shelter, they always think that traditional shelters euthanize animals for spaces almost every day is absolutely cruel and inhumane. There is no reason for killing innocent animals even if some are not adorable.

However, at the same time, people try not to see the fact of NO-kill animal shelters. Some are struggling with financial problems and the situation which they have to keep the animals in overcrowding spaces with the poor sanitary condition. The animal may never be taken any health test by veterinarians.

How many people actually believe that “NO-kill animal shelters” do not kill 100 percent of animals they are holding in the shelters. They never say that they don’t kill any of them no matter what happened. There are some exceptions that they kill those animals. In fact, “NO kill animals shelter ” kill animals when they judge that would be better for them because of illness, ages and whatever they think they need to kill. is, however people actually would not know the fact that they actually kill animals.

In the United States, a wellloved 17yearold dog named Boni escaped his southwest Florida house and landed himself in the municipal shelter, Manatee County Animal Services. In the past five years, this shelter has been described as having achieved nokill status or aiming for it. But within one day, Boni had been euthanized. When he was found in the shelter, people who were working for thought ending Boni’s life quickly was appropriate, because he was a “geriatric patient with numerous problems and poor quality of life. Patient seems to be in pain and suffering (Greenwood, 2017).

When it comes to “NO-kill animal shelter”, it is actually more complicated than it seems. People do not understand that there is no certifying of the nokill label, and there is no universal definition for it. I think the most common understanding of a nokill shelter is that they never kill animals no matter what the situation of health the animals are in.

However, people do not see the process and the consequences of “ NO kill animals ”, they only judge them by the label and pretend they care about animals.“No-kill animal shelter” facilitates that people bring animals to those shelters. Because people do not need to feel guilty as much as they take them to traditional shelters. No kill policy may be one of human satisfaction. In fact, people feel good about not doing euthanasia, they instead incarcerate animals in solitary confinement for life, or they take in only the most adoptable animals and send others elsewhere (Micheal, 2015).

As I mentioned above, some animals in the shelters are killed because of their illnesses or some other problems even though the shelters only accept adaptable animals. In my opinion, “No kill shelters” make people stop thinking about what actually happens to those animals after being taken to the shelters. People should consider about other animals that are not adaptable. When the No Kill policy has been supported by many people, where those animals actually go.

“unwanted cats and dogs are being shipped to Vermont from the south, not that we need any more dogs and cats here” (Micheal, 2015).

There is no point of having “No-kill shelters” if people try to hide them from their space or ignore their rights. It is absolutely the same thing as traditional shelters or even worse because they are putting them in the situation until they die. In conclusion, I disagree that “No Kill shelters” are existing when people only accept adaptable animals for their policy and increasing adapting rate because of respecting animals rights.
