2017 in Review

The year 2017 was a remarkable one for GDG Ibadan, a lot was accomplished and we saw the community grow significantly; in 2018 we would not be throwing away the work that was done in 2017, we would only build on it.

Events

In 2017 we hosted four events, IWD ’17 — Telling Our Story with over 70 people in attendance, Google I/O Extended 2017 Ibadan with over 90 people in attendance (read more), Mobile Sites Certification Study Jams with about 20 participants and DevFest SW 2017 — Ibadan with over 500 people in attendance and attendees from the various parts of south west Nigeria (read more).

2018 Plans

Engagement

In 2018 we plan to build on the past success to further develop the community. In 2017 we got more people interested in the tech community in Ibadan, in 2018 we want to get more people engaged in the community. We want to know the community and know what you are doing so we can easily match people with opportunities. Do us a favour, if you would like to contribute to the community, kindly reach out to organisers Yemi or Goke.

Women Inclusion

Finally, in 2018 we would like to see more women inclusion in the community and we would be making conscious efforts to achieve this. If you are a lady and would like to be involved in the Ibadan community, please reach out to WTM Ibadan lead Olaoluwa.

If you are not a member of GDG Ibadan, you can join us on meetup, also follow us on twitter, facebook and our publication on medium.
