DevFest Ilorin 2019: It’s obvious something amazing is happening when this many people want to check-in at the same time.

On october 19, 2019, held Devfest Ilorin 2019. Devfest Ilorin was a glamorous event as attendees started trooping in around 6:50am, they were too excited about what they were going to learn and the networks, they were going to build.

The event was hosted at Kwara State banquet hall, where over 500 developers converged for the very first time in the North Central part of Nigeria, on the 19th of October 2019. At exactly 8:00 am, the registration and check-in team begin to register and check-in the attendees, the swags were distributed alongside the souvenirs and the attendees were directed to their seats, where they were all seated orderly.

At exactly 9:00 am, Kamaldeen Yusuf and Zainab Abdullahi gave the welcome address and introduced to them what DevFest is about. At the same time appreciating the partners of this great event also encouraging the attendees to tweet and post about the event and post on their various social media accounts. After that Kamaldeen Yusuf introduces Ibrahim Zulkifli as the next speaker for the icebreaker.

Ibrahim Zulkifli — Event icebreaker

Ibrahim Zulkifli was welcomed on stage with overwhelming claps by the attendees, the joy of that made Ibrahim Zulkifli gave an ice-breaker with joy discussing about what DevFest, what we do at GDGIlorin, appreciating our sponsors and giving the attendees our website link, the event’s photo album and welcoming them once again to the amazing Developers festival.

Akinjobi Sodiq — Growing with Google Community

After the icebreaker by Ibrahim Zulkifli, At exactly 9:30 am, Kamaldeen Yusuf introduces Akinjobi Sodiq Who happens to be the first speaker who gave a keynote on Growing with Google Community where he emphasized beautifully on that. Being an amazing speaker he is. The attendees were really amazed by his keynote address and he ended his session with a stage selfie with the happy developers.

Adeola Olaleye — Roles of Women in Tech

At 10:00 am Our wonderful and amazing women in tech was not forgotten as Adeola Olaleye (Lead Women in tech Ilorin) did justice to the roles of women in Tech, In her keynote she engaged everyone and asked them to network with their seatmates and also she emphasized the fact your role as a woman in tech is to help close the gender gap and she ended her session with this points for women in tech.

  • Sustain yourself and don’t feel inferior
  • Encourage other women
  • Be open to opportunities
  • And be part of the move (join tech communities)

At 10:30 am Breakfast was amazing as attendees were served with sandwiches and tea and the DeejayLice really filled the hall with cool tracks. The breakfast session lasted for about 20 minutes.

After the breakfast, the Hall was divided into 3 sessions

At 11:45 Esinniobiwa Quareeb took a session of Building a diverse and inclusive community in which a lot of people enjoy a lot of questions where asked and joy was on the face of the attendees in appreciation of this time.

Meanwhile in the session of cloud Memunat Manzuma took a session of Go Serverless on Cloud, which lots of people loved and left lots of feedback on twitter tagging GDGIlorin

Blessing Krofegha — Building A Payment Experience with Google Pay

At 12:40 Blessing Krofegha took a session on Building A Payment Experience with Google Pay which he handled incredibly impacted lots of knowledge. Following him was Segun Olumide who talked about Power of AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) which was really an amazing one, ended with a very amazing selfie with questions all answered.

Nonso daniel — Integrating Push Notification in your web application using Firebase

At 12:15 Nonso Daniel took a session Integrating Push Notification in your web application using Firebase after that ended the amazing session with a smiling selfie.

Yusuf Adeyemo — Scaling web application with Kubernetes

Started at the same time with Nonso Daniel, Yusuf Adeyemo was on Cloud session which he talked about Scaling web application with Kubernetes, His session was amazing and lots of the attendees loved it.

Aiman Saeed — Iamremarkable

On the other hand, Aiman Saeed Took a session “Iamremarkable” where she discussed a lot about why Iamremarkable was started, she went in detail with collaboration, and questions from attendees. It was really overwhelming, how she was able to put smiles on lots of people’s face.

Ending the breakout session was our amazing speaker Oluwatosin Ogunyebi which made a live demonstration of Creating your First Augmented Reality Application. it was really amazing and devest Ilorin Instagram filter was created by Oluwatosin Ogunyebi

At 1:40 pm attendees went outside for Group picture,Coming back in for Launch was amazing as attendees were served with rice, chicken and drinks. with light entertainment of DeejayLice really which lasted for about 30 munites.

Mathew Adeniyi — Automating Communication Using Micro Services

Ending the event was the last speaker Mathew Adeniyi who talked about Automating Communication Using Micro Services, It was really an amazing session that left attendees speechless.
