28th Sept 2019 The best day of 2019 for me. Why? Let’s rewind the story to know in a better way. So, on 27th August, while attending the boring lectures in my college, suddenly ‘meri boriyat ban gayi Khushi aur mazedaar’ because GDG DevFest Punjab registration was open. Not sure, But I was one of the first entries to register because the form opened around 1:00 pm and I registered myself by 1:05 pm. Thanks to Reliance Jio for always supporting! From that day onwards, every single day went like a year because ‘selection abhi baki thi mere dost’ . After 10 days, another bomb dropped on my email saying ‘Congratulations on being selected for GDG DevFest Punjab 2019’ which made me felt as in I had captured Mount Everest !!!!!!! Then my prep started, from getting all the info about speakers, DevFest Punjab app to the questions for speakers! Time went by……….Now back to start point!

Woke up at 3 AM, after all, 4 hours drive to Chandigarh from my city Bathinda ! Get.Set.Go and reached Chandigarh by 9AM. The first impression after reaching The Lalit, Chandigarh was the board indicating to the venue of DevFest Punjab which again filled my head with happiness and craziness. Then saw some attendees around, the entire aura was so energetic and the feeling was like ‘Sab apne hi log hai…’ and was like a dream for me! Thanks to the teams of GDG Jalandhar and GDG Chandigarh for being so nice and helping at every moment, wheresoever needed. After registering myself on the desk, got some swags (A Google KeyChain, Diary, Pens, GDG Badges and more…) which are = Medals (like for soldiers). As I entered into the main venue, there was another level madness and pagalpanti going on. Attendees making networks, clicking selfies, enjoying welcome tea (me too), eating great snacks and biscuits (Kuch Zyaada Kha liye the..).

Now, the main moment came! Entered Sonakshi Mam and Tushar Sir with full excitement on the stage and the madness of GDG DevFest Punjab 2019 began with a countdown — 10,9,8,7……1 and the official kickstart marks the beginning of this great gala event. First came, Nikita Gandhi Mam, The Guru of ML ! Delivered an awesome talk about Machine Learning and mainly, the real applications of ML being used in the real world like in the agriculture sector and much more stuff. Then came the favourite of all ‘Mere Guru — Codepur ke Superhero: Pawan Kumar Sir’. As he entered , the audience showcased some great madness by excitedly cheering for him. His talk on ‘Flutter’ was full of knowledge and thrill. Shared about the future of Flutter, usage and applications in real life, one stop solution → Web + Mobile App in one shot ! Now, a little break, not KitKat wali but Chai Break! After refreshing myself with some great chai and snacks, the next league started. Technical Sessions, my favourite !

  1. How to be a Ninja Developer by Paresh Mayani Sir: What a person he was ! So humble, nice and full of energy! He shared a great knowledge of always sharing information and making connections to the best so as to Collab and build some great products to help the nation in the best way possible. Gave some great tips on how to be a Ninja Developer while adopting some basic steps: reading articles on Medium to listening podcasts or watching videos, I really enjoyed and gained a lot of knowledge. One of the best sessions of the day !
  2. Supercharging your Idea by Prajyot Mainkar Sir: This was the best session for me because it came like a bouncer session ! Knowledge, fun, happiness in one shot! He is truly the ‘Stand Up Comedian of GDG Community.’ He shared some great tips on how to make your idea into a great startup, shared some mistakes which everyone does at one time in their life so we all can learn and do not repeat the same and also some great advise on ‘TINDER’ . What a person he is — Smiley face, charming personality, energy man and always humble! His one tip which I remembered was → ‘Don’t take money, build money’.

I want to describe more …..but let’s be short and brief so as to put an immediate effect on you!

The other sessions were also too great and all the speakers shared some experiences from where I personally got to know a lot! As the day was coming to an end, my energy was still on the higher side but the event was ending which made me disheartened for some time. Then, came the concluding session delivered by GDG Groups. The audience was still in its madness mode and the event concluded with some great memories and a DevFest T-Shirt.

Special thanks to the entire teams of GDG Jalandhar and GDG Chandigarh for organizing such an awesome event and letting me be a part of this great DevFest Punjab 2019. Thanks to Google India too for giving all of us a platform to interact and learn. Also for the concept behind DevFest India.

This event helped me in a lot of ways: From building some great connections to getting to know about Google and the latest technologies around.

While returning to home, all the events at DevFest were going like a timelapse and the pagalpanti I did with all my fellow attendees. Hoping for a great DevFest Punjab 2020 at wishing all of you success in life !!
