Here For Her — a day to praise womanhood

A woman is a bird who is born to fly, no net can ensnare her. She is independent and ambitious. She is capable of doing everything. What would be a world without women? Really scarce. In the world full of business, we always forget to praise her for contribution and love. Then comes a special day when we give words of thanks to her i.e., International Women’s day. It is celebrated every year for expressing gratitude. Our world revolves around ladies. Yes, she is always beside you. No matter where you are. She could be your friend, mother, classmate, colleague, partner or your helper. We have been celebrating her womanhood and praise her what she is doing for us for years.

That kind of women’s day celebration was held in Apeejay Institute of Technology, Jalandhar on 31st March 2019. It was organized by Women Techmakers (WTM) Jalandhar chapter in association with Google Developers Group(GDG), Jalandhar. Almost 5 female speakers and a house full of ladies came across to celebrate this occasion. The enthusiastic crowd was not just limited to girls but men also took their active participation in such kind of glorification. The atmosphere was cheerful and so as the speakers. The institute head inaugurated the celebration. Thus the commence of event begun.

Miss Sonakshi Shukla and Miss Ishita Agnihotri, WTM leads and ambassador for introducing WTM community. They elucidate about the program, how the community stands for the girls who are willing to make their career in the tech field and instigate them to join this wonderful community. Mr. Suraj Kumar and Mr. Vrijraj Singh, organizers at GDG embark on the celebration and congratulate each and every girl in the house for the embellishing this world full of her contributions. They acknowledged us about the Google Developers Group and demonstrate about the community which stands for the community which contributes to the community back. They have illuminated about the achievement which is accomplished by our community. Then comes the DSC Leads (Developer Students Club) in the celebration of the Women’s Day. Mr. Arsh, DSC lead from NIT Jalandhar and Miss Simran Gujarati, DSC Lead from Lovely Professional University apprised about the student program in their respective colleges and how they exactly work to enhance the skills of a student.

Mr. Kamal Vaid acquainted about Google developers certification and how this certification actually works for a developer to get hands on the technical stuff. People were amazed to get to know about such a wonderful opportunity. They were curious and excited to know about getting a certificate as well as learning skills assistance. Moreover, Mr. Pranay, an organizer at Google Cloud Developer Community New Delhi region, has shared his skillful set on the Cloud technology. In addition, Mr. Siddhant Agarwal, program coordinator Google Developers India, took a special session on Cloud technology. He illustrated the working and how to get started to cloud. Moreover, Mr. Pranay and Mr. Siddhant interacted with everyone and responded to every questionnaire.

A break was much needed, not to take a pause but to boost the session with more energy. The power pack of Pizza along with beverages has been served to everyone. In the second half, we started with the online quiz session took by Mr. Yash Pathak. Some interesting and amazing facts based quiz made the environment convivial. A session by Miss Shubhangi Gupta for today’s toddlers, tomorrow’s future encourages the ladies to becomes woman geeks. She told about the WTM program as well as scholarship offered to women in tech. The sessions were remarkable itself but then comes Miss Varsha Jaiswal, co-organizer at GDG Jalandhar. She came along with a motivating phrase that was “I am remarkable…” , and asked everyone why they are remarkable in their own perspective. The audience and team members both took active participation in that session and told why they are remarkable.

There were panel discussions where developers shared their experience and Odyssey. Mr. Abhisekh Suman, an organizer at GDG Jalandhar shared his work experience at Infosys Chandigarh. How he managed everything.

At last, we come with women tech discussion panel where Miss Sonakshi, Miss Ishita and Miss Varsha conveys their journey and confabulated what things make you job ready. They put heads together for the community and want to see more leading ladies in the tech field.

Last but not the least we express our gratitude towards Mr. Amit Singh, a professor at Apeejay Institute, who has helped us a lot in organizing this wonderful session. The backstage work could never be disregard the helpers and team members who helped us in organizing such a wonderful event deserve a big thanks and words of appreciation.

Girls could do everything regardless of the circumstances. She is capable enough to make it happen. We had successfully accomplished ‘HERE FOR HER’ motto by making them realize that would do that. We won’t make it happen for them but we want them to make it happen for themselves. Their faith could move a mountain for sure. After all, they are learning to sail their ships against the storms.
