Circuit Broken! One month of activities in June, with GDG Singapore
Another month has passed! With the coming and going of June, Singapore has entered into Phase 2 of its circuit some time ago, and even the General Elections has went passed us on 10th of July. What an eventful month it has been!
For GDG in Singapore, there has been several events occurring as well. Let’s take a closer look and examine all that has transpired!
Webinar #4, Serverless Containers with Knative and Cloud Run — 4th June 2020
Starting off the month of June, we have the fourth installment of the Webinar series by GDG Cloud Singapore. In this iteration, we have invited a fellow organizer of our sister GDG group in Brunei, Xin Yi, to share with us her experiences in using Google Cloud Platform.

Webinar #5 — Building a Machine Learning based KYC system
Towards the end of the month, GDG Cloud Singapore organized another webinar, the fifth installment! From this entry in our long-running series, we invited Magzhan Kairanbay, who shared with us his own (and his company’s) experience in building a Know Your Customer (KYC) system with Machine Learning tools in Google Cloud Platform.

In the Cloud: Serverless on GCP
Finishing off the month of June, we have the first-ever “In the Cloud” live stream, this month’s theme as “Serverless on GCP”. This was an event organized by Google Developers Space. Both GDG organizers Hairizuan and Weiyuan were invited as guest speakers in this live stream.
From the live stream, both Hairizuan and Weiyuan answered several questions, such as what is meant as “Serverless” in today’s world. They also discussed how Serverless can be best utilized using Google App Engine and Cloud Run, using Google Cloud platform — and also other non-serverless alternatives, such as Kubernetes.
