You have Rs 2000 and you need to attract 100 customers to visit your Chinese Restaurant 🏪

Case 1: 5–10 years back, you would have preferred newspaper pamphlets. 25p per pamphlet and you will have roughly 8000 of them. You ask the vendors to attach it inside the newspapers and your pamphlet has reached approximately 8000 readers.

“How many of these 8000 readers were your probable customers?”

Now let’s assume some of these readers might not like Chinese food, few others don’t prefer to eat out at restaurants and some might not just afford it. What does this mean? A lot of the readers who received your pamphlet are not your generic customers. You spent a major chunk of your marketing budget on the wrong target customer groups.

Conversion Rate: 2% ~ 5%

It was like shooting without setting a target!

Case 2: You run advertisements on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can post an advertisement in the form of a tweet, story or a post but before posting you are asked to select the target group. You can customize your target group according to the location, gender, likes, dislikes, preferences etc. This way, your ad is shown only to those who fall in your target customer group.

Conversion Rate: 10% ~15%

There is a high chance the user will relate to your ad and think about it!
