Devfest Cebu 2019: Humans of Devfest ended with a bang last November 16, 2019 at the Golden Peak Hotel & Suites. New learnings and awesome swags like lanyards, pocket calendars, and eco-bags from Fullspeed Technologies were brought home by the 600+ participants who attended the whole-day event.

Booths

All throughout the event, the participants had the chance to visit different booths. We had booths from our awesome sponsors TrustArc and Newlogic where participants can receive cool freebies.

A photo booth sponsored by Fizzbuzz was also set up where participants can have their photo taken and printed. Digital photos are uploaded here. (Thank you SMDP Photo Booth Cebu!)

We also have the merchandise booth where VIPs can receive awesome swags from our past events and where all participants can buy shirts and pillows!

Intro and Keynotes

The event was kicked off by our GDG Community manager, Frances Marie Teves. It was then followed by a keynote from Shad Roi de la Cruz, the Developer Community Manager for DSC at Google.

Ferdie Saputil, the Google Cloud Lead for the Philippines, Vietnam, and Rest of Asia (ROA) gave a Technology Developer Keynote. Josan Astrid Chug, a UI/UX Engineer and co-founder of Aestrea Software Development, also shared about diversity with Women Techmakers.

The newly announced Developer Student Club (DSC) leads were also introduced at the event. We have Justin Po from UP Cebu, Elram Espra from CIT-U, Rona Rose from Cristal e-College — Bohol, and Vincent Alturas from USC.

A group photo was taken and then lunch was served right after.

And in case you missed it, a rare dinosaur was found roaming around the area during lunchtime!

Breakout Sessions

Breakout sessions were held in the afternoon where different topics were discussed in four (4) different rooms.

Raffle and Closing

After all the breakout sessions, participants were given the chance to speak in front of the audience for lightning talks. Some talked about their tech community and their experiences as a developer.

There was a social media contest as usual where participants were asked to use the official hashtags (#humansofdevfest #gdgcebu #wtmcebu #devfest19 #devfestcebu) to have a chance to win. Social media winners were awarded the limited edition Devfest Cebu 19 pillows!

We also had a raffle where lucky winners got to take home prizes like gift certificates from Bubble Tea Station or Nuat Thai, The Finishers book from Ambidextr, Flashdrives from Lexmark, Android: KOTLIN Exam Code from our speaker Hassan, Jetbrains license, and our grand prize: PS4 and GoPro Hero 8 from Accenture.
