STATE EMPLOYEES GIVE BACK WITH SECA
STATEWIDE PROGRAM HAS COLLECTED MORE THAN $80 MILLION FOR CHARITIES

The State and University Employees Combined Appeal (SECA) is the program that provides all state employees the opportunity to donate to the charitable causes of their choice and enhance the quality of life for all.
As of August 2021, the Illinois Office of Comptroller is the administrating agency of the SECA program. Originally established in 1983, SECA is a workplace giving campaign that allows state employees to donate to nearly 1,500 charities at local, state, national and international levels. Through SECA, Illinois state employees have contributed more than $83 million to various charities.
SECA supports 12 “Charitable Federations”: America’s Best Charities, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, America’s Charities, Black United Fund, Community Shares, Creating Healthier Communities, EarthShare, Global Impact, Special Olympics, United Negro College Fund and United Way.
The 12 federations collectively represent nearly 2,000 charities to choose from when making donations. Participation in the SECA Appeal is important and any donation is greatly appreciated and helps make a difference. Support of the SECA campaign demonstrates a willingness to help a single need or many needs within the community.
Since moving to the Illinois Office of Comptroller, the SECA program has a new, user-friendly website. This site makes it easy for employees to search the various charities and donate online via the “Pledge Now” portal.
