“VIBES” metaDAO Community Report #2 — new quiz & retroactive grants!
GM, GEARHeads!
We kicked off VIBES back in July, and what a ride it has been since. From our raids to the meme contests, from poker nights to shitposting in Discord as the devs launched V2. It’s been an amazing ride and it’s time we announce the results of all the activities carried out as well as some alpha regarding our latest developments for the community.
For those who are new and don’t quite understand what’s going on, it’s best to start with reading the article below (how it all came about):
How have things been going
The community, at break neck speed, became +1800 people strong and even the most devoted supporters of quiet chats about serious topics joined the fun and became proper GEARHeads to join our Friday Night Poker. Explorers played a major role in growth too, together they pushed DeBank & Zapper to integrate Gearbox Protocol into their portfolios.
The community did a great job in increasing the reach and amplifying the posts on Twitter. Doing quality raids, making everyone laugh even during the bear pain with their funny memes, all the artists who made quality stickers. To all we owe a huge congratulations and thank you for the participation and making this endeavour a success! But, this is just the beginning, so read on till the end to know about the new activities.
Understanding VIBES and what we do!
It is important to understand what the VIBES Community metaDAO is and how it differs from a usual Ambassador program. As well as knowing the importance of earning points after you have successfully passed the quiz and earned your role as an Explorer.
With the protocol growing and the TVL above $100m, devs and other functions working all guns blazing, it’s imperative that the community too stands up to help make the protocol grow. That’s why the goal of VIBES is not to maximise our social media stats with inactive members or bots, but to create a quality vibe with true GEARheads who can help amplify and spread the protocol ideas and goals!
And hence the ethos of VIBES are based on maximising the quality of content and never about the quantity of the posts. You can get in touch with us on Discord to verify the content pieces anytime.
In order to deliver the expected quality, we suggest you to stay involved and keep learning about Gearbox. Afterall, VIBES is about people, communication, creativity and helping the protocol grow. And just as a precaution, VIBES will never ask you to shill or create content on the token. For us, it’s all about driving the product growth.
For those who are already aware of VIBES are ready to burst into activity, we made a small page in Notion with all the important questions that we are asked. We have created an FAQ which you should read to find out the nuances.
The Rewards and Recognition
Words fall flat when actions don’t measure up to the efforts the community has put in to fuel our growth. Keeping in mind the same, it’s time we recognise and reward the legends who have be a key part of V2 launch. Below is the list of people who have significantly contributed to the DAO and the GEAR rewards they will be receiving. All distributions will be one-time distributions and then run consecutively. While the rewards are in the form of $GEAR tokens majorly, the governance vote to make the token transferable is now up and currently being voted on. You can check it here. To know more about the Cider’d Liquidity, read this:

- Galmoli — 1st liquidated Ninja: 200k GEAR
- 0xdapper — Zapper integrator dev chad:100k GEAR
- TQT — Active interface tester on the mainnet (who forgot his big chunk of early Discord rewards, this is to make up a bit): 100k GEAR
- Samuel — FRAX proposal chad: 150k GEAR
- MILLIE — Active participation in governance: 100k GEAR
- sphinxy — Active participation in dApp feedback: 10k GEAR
- raz — Big chad of Guild.xyz / integrator: 50k GEAR
- Byli — Active participation in the DAO: 25k GEAR
By the way, some of the VIBES members are doing really great things. For example Samuel created this proposal and it was approved at FRAX.
So how can you earn these rewards going forward?
Like the chads mentioned above, you can take up a task that helps the protocol grow and get rewarded. Any community member enabling meaningful growth deserves to be rewarded.
Not sure what you can exactly do? — Don’t worry, stay active in our discord and get that explorer role. We have different activities every week that enable you to earn points. While the contests are going on we ensure that the community is able to join together and vibe. This is how our poker tournament was started. It takes place every Friday at 17:00 UTC.
Anyone registered as an explorer can join in and play, and as far as competition goes, we get up to 100 players contesting every week. Apart from the points, the top 3 finishers also receive special NFTs, utility of which you’ll get to know in due time.
Results and rewards
As our previous article indicated, multiple contests were held that produced an opportunity to earn $GEAR rewards. We finally have the results for the same.

In totality we had two contests, one was Meme Contest “V2 is coming”, and another one was a Sticker Contest. There were many participants and it was very hard to choose (I mean meme, haha) but nevertheless. Here are the winners:

Community Alpha #1: Gearbox x Galxe
With vibes in it’s first phase delivering strong results, we are happy to now take it to the next level. It’s time for explorers to evolve and for new explorers to rise up and further strengthen our GEARHead community.

Community Alpha #2: Gearbox x Guild.XYZ
With the community increasing and growing daily, it’s necessary we increase the ease with which we are able to onboard new people and navigate the existing ones. To do the same, Guild.xyz came to the rescue of community growth. From now on, authorization and receiving of roles will be done through Guild bot in our discord.
And here’s a little guide on how it works:

New activities!
Early alpha for them VIBES points! Over the next few days, we’ll be launching new contests and now you have the opportunity to get ready already! The themes are simple: the meme contest “Leverage Sensei Beats the Bear” and the contest to create an EMOJI for Discord. Get ready to submit your work to the #proof-of-work channel. We’ll announce dates, deadlines, and awards in the #program-news channel.
