When Kenny was fifteen years old, he got one of the greatest opportunities of his sports career so far. He got the chance to try out for his town’s top basketball team. Eight days before the big day, he seriously injured his knee and was unable to do the test. What rotten luck!

He couldn’t apply for his local team again. In addition, he couldn’t continue practicing basketball, ruining his dream of being a professional player. Many questions went through Kenny’s head:

“Did I train too much, maybe my weight was not good enough…If at least I could afford better material and a good physio…”

This led him to start thinking about the idea of creating a sports system customized for each type of athlete. After his horrible experience, the concept for Myskills was born with a unique goal: Help amateur players train like pro-players.

Myskills Founders

Q. How do you think Myskills change the way we think about training?

Usually, when people think about good training, the word ‘expensive’ comes to mind. They think about nutritionists, physiotherapists, a good trainer… And actually putting all of this together is not affordable for most people. That’s why thanks to technology we are crafting the athletes of tomorrow with today’s training. Our team creates advanced technology that can be available to all athletes with a low cost in advanced hardware and software solutions.

According to data collected by sports federations, more than 70% of amateur and semi-professional athletes fail. Most common causes are injuries caused by overloads in training, poor diet generating health and energy problems, and not having new technologies that professional athletes use to calculate performance statistics.

Q. What achievements do you have so far?

We participated in a Demo Day at Decathlon in Shenzhen where we got the chance to sell our smartwatch in Decathlon stores. For us this was an extra push, seeing such a big brand believe in our product.

If we talk about product achievement, well, the team has finished our first MVP in our community with more than 10,000 registered users and the Voice counter using artificial intelligence. We have worked for 3 months in a Chinese soccer school where we implemented our system.

Q. How do you see the future of the company?

Our main goal is to create more opportunities for athletes. Our skillers will break the statistics of how we train today, designing a new method focused on sports development, skills, mental, and physical health.

In a sentence? Revolutionize the way we do sports.

Q. Sounds interesting… Can you explain more about what this system does?

In addition to the general implementations that Polar, Fitbit and other Sports gear brings, we have been working for more than 4 years alongside a team of professionals in design, engineering, sports medicine, nutrition, and marketing to bring real functions to training in sports like Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Polo, American Football and Badminton.

The main functions of our system:

The main functions of our system:

1 — Pro statistics: Counting passes, recoveries, assists, etc. and more customizable information for the athletes.

2 — Heat map: A GPS to analyze areas where the athlete or team spent more and or less time for each competition.

3 — Smart Alarm: An AI-generated alarm that helps trainers learn from the athlete’s behavior on the field, like losing concentration.

4 — Nutrition: A module based on the information provided by the athlete that we use to generate a specialized food program to help the athlete gain or lose weight.

5 — Injuries: Using deep technology, we will know in advance how the athlete develops and that will allow us to provide counsel for the athlete through recovery notifications.

6 — Smart Camera: This will help complete the entire training and competition ecosystem, generating individual follow-ups of each player during matches.

Q. What is the first challenge to take this from a prototype to an established product?

We are looking for an investment in an initial 3-year convertible note of $500,000 to complete the remaining development of our system and the functional prototype for all sports with the first production for sale in Decathlon stores.
