2 Big Issues That Roam Should Have Fixed Long Time Ago

I have been using Roam since February 2020. It has changed completely, how I take notes, collect information, and even the way I write.

Yet, some features were quite badly implemented when I started, and they have not been improved since. Unfortunately, the more I put information into Roam, the more painful these imperfections are and the more disturbing they become for my workflow. For this short article, I selected two of them that I find especially painful.

1. Useless graphs

Yeah, graphs! That was definitely one of the early appeals of Roam not only for me: Create notes, connect them and see the representation of connections between them as a graph. And if you are starting with Roam or if you visit a database that is curated, you get almost a magical image like this:

Graph of roam-tricks public database.

Such an image seems to have a meaning and it looks impressive. Of course, it claims to be a representation of our thoughts! However, my graph after one year looks like this:

My personal graph after one year — too many connections and dots.
