Smartphone batteries are so efficient nowadays that we just tend to neglect them with some not-so-positive habits.

You might be slowly killing your smartphone without even noticing, so take notice.

Charging It on Your Computer

USB ports are slower when it comes to charging mobile devices.

They don’t provide a stable energy current. It usually has spikes that cause greater heating when compared with charging directly from the mains.

Batteries exposed to temperatures of 40ºC have a loss of up to 65% of their capacity, as you can see from the table below.

Letting the Battery Run Out

Doing this only increases the number of cycles and there goes the life of your battery.

Nowadays it’s recommended that you have your battery between 30% and 80%.

That way you won’t cause the so-called cycle stress that decreases the chemical performance of the battery.

Leaving the It Charging In the Car

Batteries have at least 3 safety layers that protect them from elements that could jeopardize their stability.

One of those elements is temperature.

Usually, devices perfectly function in temperatures between 0°C and 35°C.

So if you let your smartphone charge in your parked car (where temperatures can go below -20°C or above 45°C), temporarily shortens the battery life and may even cause it to shut down.

Using the Wrong Charger

Your smartphone comes with a charger specifically designed to optimally charge its battery.

The structure of the charger and the battery is adapted in order for the second to receive the right voltage amount.

Using any other different charger will change the power supply and can cause irreversible damage to your smartphone battery.
