5 Best Ways to Transfer Data Wirelessly Between Smartphone and Laptop.

--

Here’s how you can increase your productivity by using these 5 ways to transfer data from an Android smartphone to a laptop. Be it links, images, files, videos, you name it!

As long as you’re a part of Apple’s ecosystem, transferring data back and forth is a treat, Airdrop makes it so effortless. But not everyone uses Apple devices.

Google is also making a lot of efforts bringing different OEMs Android devices together to make the transfer much easier like Nearby Share but it’s still fresh and relatively slow than the ones mentioned below.

I’ve seen many people setting up another messaging account just to receive possibly that one file, or sending that one link they don’t want to lose, emailing yourself that pdf and then logging in from another device and then downloading it there, ugh! so much work. It becomes a hassle to send the files to other devices, well that hassle ends now!

With these 4 ways, you’re going to be so productive, no matter what platform you’re using. The most common combination I’ve witnessed is an Android user with a MacBook and vice-versa, and this article backs those users too.

Let’s start, shall we?

Clipt

I use this one, and I love it. Clipt is developed by the development team of OnePlus. This app makes it so close to the experience that the Apple users have been getting.

  • 📱 Transfer photos and videos from your smartphone (Android/iPhone) to laptop (Mac/PC)
  • 🔑 Send a password code from your phone to computer
  • 📥 Copy on one device & paste on another (My favorite)
  • 📂 Manage files between your phone & laptop
  • 🌐 Transport text between devices

This is how you do it:

  1. After installing the extension, it will redirect you to the sign-up page.
  2. Make sure that you sign up from the same Google account as your smartphone.
  3. Now go to Play Store/App Store and download Clipt.
  4. Sign in with the same Google Account.
  5. You’re good to go!

Now you can try copying something like a text from a Web Browser from your laptop and Clipt will automatically sync it with your other devices. But what if you don’t want this kind of automation where everything you copy on your laptop is being synced even though you don’t need it?

Just go to the extension settings and disable Auto-Copy, now you will have to copy the text and click on the extension. You’ll see a send button next to ‘Copy latest clipboard content to other devices.’

Now you may be someone who doesn’t transfer files that often, doesn’t want to install an app, you need a temporary workaround, you’re in a hurry while reading this. Well, that brings me to my next pick.

Snapdrop

It makes sending and receiving data easy and efficient for devices on the same WiFi network.

  • Right-click on the Device name.
It will generate a random name to identify the device.

  • Then click on the device name, select the file you’d like to share and that’s it.

But what if that device is not in the same WiFi network for some reason? Well, that problem is solved by the next one.

WeTransfer

WeTransfer solves the problem where you need to be in the same WiFi network which isn’t always possible, right? This creates a temporary link that will expire after 1 week but that shouldn’t be a problem. The servers are fast when it comes to uploading and downloading big files.

This is how you do it.

Now, what if the file you’re sharing is confidential, and contains private documents. While I’m not sure of the encryption WeTransfer uses, I’ve got an alternative for you and it has better animations too.

Wormhole

Wormhole uses end-to-end encryption to share your files securely and you can choose the duration after which the file should be wiped out of existence. You can go as big as 10GB whereas you’re only getting 2GB in WeTransfer.

  1. Go to Wormhole

2. Click on Select files to send

3. Click on Copy Link and share however you want to share it!

Telegram

You must’ve heard of this messaging app! Telegram has a feature called Saved Messages, which can be used to send files to logged-in devices for as long as you want to.

Assuming you’re on your laptop, you just need to:

Telegram Download page

  1. Log in with the same mobile number.
  2. Send the file to Telegram, a recipient list will pop up, there it will be, Saved Message.

It syncs in real-time with all devices, which means you can pick the chat right where you stopped writing.

You’ve got unlimited storage so the data won’t be stressing your phone storage, you can download the file again if you accidentally deleted it. No need to send yourself that file again.

No matter what you choose, this article has got you covered. Told you, I will free you from those hassles! Happy transfer!

That’s it for this story, I hope you find this helpful and informative! Let me know if you have any other than these! Consider sharing this and following me if you did.
Have a great day ahead!
