Introduction
What comparison period should I choose?
Recently, I shared with you a solution regarding the same subject but, it was only applied to scorecards. But when it comes to other graphs, the dilemma is still there…
- What should I choose when I have a table, or a timeline, or anything else except scorecards?
- Do I prefer to compare previous period, or previous year data?
- Why do I have to choose? Both comparisons are insightful for so many different reasons.
So, let’s answer — finally — all these questions, shall we?
The process
For the purposes of this article, I am going to use Google Analytics data from the Demo account of Google’s Merchandise Store. Of course, you can use your own data from any kind of source that includes historical information.
The thought behind the process
The whole idea is to create two pages with the exact same structure that will use different comparison settings. The challenge here is, to link the two worlds together, creating a user-friendly experience.
