If you are are relatively new developer searching for your first job and you are not quite sure what kind of company you would like to work at, then you should consider a position at a startup. In this article I will explain why that is the case as well as point out some considerations that you should have before making your decision.
You get a lot of responsibility
Startup companies usually consist of a smaller team of people. Because of this, every coworker’s contribution to the company matters a lot, and the company’s “survival” depends on your work. Therefore, you will quickly be assigned with a lot of responsibility.
And that is a good thing!
Because taking responsibility makes you grow.
This also means that you quickly will be part of making important technical decisions and work on critical parts of the software. You are one of the few developers in the team, maybe even the only one, so your teammates will look to you for answers.
